Spring In Ireland April 2020 Part 2

Prunus lusitanica Portuguese laurel

A recent addition this evergreen hedge has something for every season. Right now the light green new growth on the tips contrasts with the dark green of the older leaves.

Sorbus aria ‘Lutescens

This gorgeous tree delivers from Spring to Autumn. Right now its silvery leaves are unfolding with lovely downy hairs on both sides.

Spiraea japonica Magic Carpet

Another plant for all seasons. Meant to be deciduous but ours “magically” never loose their leaves. The red in the new growth contrasting with greens and yellows of the older leaves.

Prunus ‘Kanzan’

The star performer in our garden right now. This tree is a typical cherry with a lovely bark but the flowers right now are just phenomenal and we are probably a week or two away from the full show.
